Even in medicine, though it is easy to know what honey, wine and hellebore, cautery and surgery are, to know how and to whom and when to apply them so as to effect a cure is no less an undertaking than to be a [veterinarian].

Gettin' ready to graduate

and all I want to do is sleep. Haven't had the best nights' sleep lately. Got home late last night and picked my dad up at the airport this morning. Then had to get my cap and gown, go running, shower, get a manicure and pedicure of course (we ran into several other vet students there, even a clinician), clean my room for my dad, and once my mom got in this evening, me, mom, and dad met rebecca and dan for dinner. now it's time for bed and i have to get up kinda early for graduation rehearsal at 9am. then come home and get ready, then we're invited to rebecca's for lunch, then must be at graduation by 2:30, the ceremony starts at 3:30 and then the dinner/dance we're hosting is 6-12am and jen is having a party at her house as well. then on sat. evening nina is having a barbecue. lots of stuff to do and i still have to finish packing and getting my life ready to move beginning of next week. this girl is coming to get my scooter sunday afternoon. hopefully i'm ready tomorrow. i'm most afraid of trying to walk in my new shoes and falling or tripping onstage and second to that is crying during the ceremony and someone seeing me or worse, mascara running down my face. anyway gotta go to bed.

Well Dave and the gang really disappointed tonite!

I went to the Depeche Mode concert in KC, MO tonite. What a mess!

Everything leading up to the concert was only a little messy. I got to KC at 6:20pm for graduation clothes shopping and the stores closed at 7pm so I was in a big hurry. I went straight for Ann Taylor very determined to find something. The girls there were very helpful and I did get something. If I had more time I'm sure I would have tried on more but oh well. The pants I got are size 10 which was a bit big, and there's no belt loops so you can't hold them tighter with a belt. The 8s were okay but a little small. I wanted to take into account that I'm fully bloated, period ready to emerge, and also I'm a little out of shape and these 10s will probably fall off me soon and be useless, a waste of $98 but I had to get the best size for this Fiday. The top I tried was a 10 but the girl said very big on me which is weird because it should have fit fine or even been too small. The boobs always get me. She had me try a 6 and an 8 and then even had me try a 4. The 4 fit fine too but I decided to go with the 6. Man does that shirt run big! I also got a pair of shoes there too but I'm a little nervous walking across the stage in graduation in them since they're open back, hope they don't fall off. So I got out of there by 7:10, I made great time I think. Now I needed to eat. Hadn't eaten anything at all yet that day. I was walking around the Plaza but I don't know where stuff is so I was wasting lots of time when I came across California Pizza Kitchen. It was perfect! I sat at the bar w/ a big TV showing Yanks vs. Boston which was a big surprise to me. Had a margarita, Thai salad, a couple Yankee homers and I was good to go. Finally found the Starlight Theater, the outdoor place the concert was at. I had to stop and ask some people but it was okay. Went straight to the bathroom thinking I still had time when I heard the intro to DM's first song. I finished peeing and ran out of the bathroom screaming, sorry I didn't have time to wash the hands. Had no clue where my seat was so I just stood kinda off to the side w/ the awful smokers but the view was fine and they were letting us stand there and really I don't know where my seat was. It was a packed house but I don't know if it was because it was outside or what but the crowd didn't seem that excited. Anyway they get to about the 6th song, Stripped, and when it's Dave's time to start singing he does but then all of a sudden he just stops everything and says they have to start it over. So they completely stop and then start from the beginning and do the song through. It was real strange. Never seen that happen before. Then Dave leaves for Martin's songs, which is usual. But after I think Martin's first, a roadie guy or something comes out and says stuff I couldn't really hear but about technical difficulites or something and I don't know what was up with Dave. They might have said another time that there was something wrong with him because he never came back on stage again. Martin just stood up there singing his songs and everyone was chattering and complaining that they didn't come to see this guy. I don't think they even knew who he was, that he wrote 99% of the songs and sang 25% of them or whatever. It sucked. So after Martin sang a few they said the rest of the show was cancelled and that was it. I think w/ Martin's filler it was still less than an hour. I wasn't so mad because I saw an incredible show in Dec. in Atlantic City and for this show tonite I just drove a couple hours. If I would have flown here to see them I'd be very upset. So I don't know what the hell happened but I'm interested to see what they post tomorrow on their website. They're supposed to play in Chicago tomorrow. I think people were expecting refunds too.

Happy Birthday Dave Gahan!!

Did ya get my email??

I will be in KC tomorrow night to see you!! Yeah, another Depeche Mode show. Can't wait!

I'm going to go to KC early in the day so I can go shopping for my graduation outfit. I'll head to the Plaza; they have so many good shops. I might also get a mani, pedi and haircut at Aveda if I can fit it all in. I was going to scrap all these ideas to spare the money but hell, I won't have any money for a long time to come so I might as well do it now for a special occasion.

I sold both my bikes on Ebay and am sending out the GT tomorrow. The Lemond should be arriving tomorrow in IN. Hope it made it there okay. My scooter is selling off Ebay to a girl in KS. She said she came up w/ the money so could be picking it up as early as tomorrow. My family comes in on Thurs. and then graduation Fri. It'll be nice and busy.

I went running today for the first time in like 2 weeks. How pathetic! And I only did 2 miles. I was supposed to run until I slowed down to over 10 min/mile but my first mile was 9:20 and the second 10:00 so I was still under pace by 40 sec. and should have kept going but I was a quitter. Thought I could go again tonite but it was our Senior Class Roast and I didn't get home until after 11pm so that didn't happen. At least maybe it'll get me running everyday again.

The Roast tonite was pretty funny. I was in one video where they asked 'what was your least favorite rotation?' and I said 'Dr. Hermesch' and to that Matt said 'I didn't know that was a rotation.' Dr. H is the one that never let me do anything because I wasn't going into food animal. I didn't like him so much.

Well a month went by

and I finally decided to post my scooter on ebay last night. I want it to sell so I have an easier move, and for some money, but I don't want it to sell because I love it and it'd be fabulous to have in Boston!!! I also posted both my bikes: my GT Outpost mountain bike and my Lemond Tourmalet road bike. I guess I'll put a link here to My Ebay so if you guys want to bid on anything you can :0)

From April 2nd

I'm having second thoughts about selling my scooter. I'm just not sure it's worth it. I kinda think it'll be hard to sell since you can buy them pretty readily from the dealer and mine has been in an accident. Yeah over $2000 was put into it to redo all the body that was damaged and I just put over $300 in it for internal parts because it wasn't starting consistently so all that stuff is new but I don't know if I'd get enough for it. Maybe it'll just be easier to bring it to Boston. RobReed I think is planning on picking me up here w/ a rental vehicle so if he can get a van then I think that's enough room. I'm not bringing much else big, just my 2 bikes, a couple dressers and a bunch of boxes. I'm hoping it'll all fit just fine. Otherwise as I said it stays here.

RobReed and Jenn are moving into the apartment this weekend. They're in the middle of it all right now. I already started packing today. Filled 2 boxes, not much I know, but I have plenty of time. Just thought I'd try to do things slowly. I also put aside a box of stuff that I don't want that I'll put out at my moving sale but label it as free stuff. Just odds and ends that isn't worth selling but I hate throwing things away.

Only 2 more weeks of rotation at K-State. Then a week off, a week at Orgeon State, and then 2 weeks off until graduation. Yeah!

I'm graduating from vet school in 10 days and you want to buy me a present

Here are some ideas:

  • I want a ticket to Madonna in July in Boston.

  • Cirque du Soleil ticket too!!

  • I want to go see Wicked in NYC.

    • I don't have anything all June or the second half of May so I searched for tickets for those months but my search found only 3 options: all in the end of June, 2 days w/ mezzanine and 1 day w/ orchestra. I'd prefer the orchestra. Who wants to take me?
  • Body fat scale: good brand: Tanita

  • Heart Rate Monitor

    • Polar is a good brand. There is a pretty big price difference between products. Some include distance and speed and all kinds of stuff. I want at least the heart rate function.
    • You can also buy these at Road Runner Sports though there are plenty of places to get these so you could shop around.
  • Anything on my Amazon wishlist

  • I like these bikes that Electra makes, like the women's Daisy cruiser.

    • I'm in the process of selling my bikes so will need to replace them when I get to Boston.
  • I'm also going to need a triathlon bike.

Well more ideas to come.

I have a bad headache!

I think it all stems from running in 75 degree weather today for the first time in a long time. It hasn't been that warm for my runs lately. It's been comfortable in the 60s. I said I've been having trouble running because I've been going later in the evenings after dinner and I'm still too full and slow. Today I went a few hours after breakfast and with the heat I'm not sure if that made me faster or what but the first 4 miles were quite fast for me but I was feeling awful. I think I got dehydrated real quick and still haven't caught back up. I had to stop after 6 miles because I was slowing down and felt awful. I also had a high fiber cereal for breakfast and I think that was a mistake for before a run. Just made my stomach feel yucky while running. Marathon is only a week away.

I went bowling tonite. Had a bad game w/ about a 97 and then a good game of 153. Not my high but pretty close. It was fun but I had this headache. It's getting down to the wire and I won't see my friends so much anymore and we need to get together more frequently but we're still busy with school. At least Jen will be in Maine so I should be able to see her and Rebecca doesn't know yet.

My stupid friend tried to convince me he joined this scientology crap and I did start to believe him because he stuck w/ his story all week but today he sent me an April Fools email saying it wasn't true. Bastard!

Gotta go to bed to get rid of my headache. Have to get up early to check on my patient. When do we change the clocks?

I have an apartment in Boston

RobReed and Jenn went to look at it yesterday. The hardwood floors are newly and nicely finished, the paint is new, windows are new, appliances are new, etc. It's in Beacon Hill, 1 T-stop from MIT and right near a Finagle-A-Bagel plus many other shops and restaurants. Right near the Park and Commons, Downtown Crossing, the Esplanade, the Charles, etc, etc, etc. Photos go here

They'll be moving in very soon, maybe next week sometime. Now I just have to pick a day to move. RobReed might be coming to get me w/ a rental SUV or van and I'll just take what can fit plus Cleo! Now one less thing to worry about.

Some really awesome news!! I just saw this morning that Depeche Mode is coming to Kansas City 2 days before my graduation so I bought a ticket. I might even stay overnight there because my family will be coming in the next day and I could drive them from the airport to Manhattan. That's getting a little ahead of myself but that's something I'm notorious for doing. Yeah DM! I flew to Atlantic City for a day between rotations back in December to see them. This will be much more convenient! Maybe I'll still get to go a 3rd time in Germany in June, though the plans for my post-grad trip to Europe are not happening. Money is such an issue right now!

My running is sucking and I'm about 10 days away from my marathon. I didn't run much at all last week being in NE with the weather and the week before I didn't run much either. And this week is not much different. Yesterday when I got home from school it was about 70 degrees and light out, I should have just gone then but instead I chose to watch TV and eat dinner and then go later in the evening and by then my food wasn't digested so well so I couldn't run very far. Well hopefully I can get through the marathon without it taking me a zillion hours.

Today was the second day of my internal medicine rotation

So far so good. I was kinda busy yesterday with 2 patients but nothing overwhelming and today I just had an 'emergency' first thing in the morning that turned out not to be an emergency but busy-body clients. They called me a couple times throughout the day to keep me on my toes. Tomorrow we only have 1 appt. so we'll be fighting over it.

I might be approved for an alternative loan from Sallie Mae since Citibank won't loan me any more money. I've been pre-approved for $5000 so I just have to make sure it goes through okay. Today RobReed and Jenn said that they're looking at our apartment tomorrow for the first time and the landlord wants them to move in next week maybe so I'll need my $1200/month rent for April, May, June plus my rent here for May and all my other bills and stuff. All stuff I need to pay before I start my job. I'm still in the process of selling my stuff so hopefully I'll have enough money to get me through to July when I start getting a paycheck. Since RobReed and Jenn might be moving as soon as next week that'll probably put my site down for awhile while they work out the internet and stuff at the new apartment. It's unfortunate because it'll be my last few weeks as a vet student. I'll still make posts and just save them on my computer to upload later on to my site when the internet is again up and running.

So much excitement! Everyone at school is talking about their new jobs and moving and lots of people are buying their first houses. It's so crazy! I'll just be worried about paying all my bills since I'll be spending lots on rent, have credit card bills to pay and I'm not sure how long I can defer my loans and how much of them I can defer. I might be responsible for paying the private loans right out of school. I'm not sure so I'm just waiting to graduate and see who comes looking for money. I can't apply for a deferment or forebearance until I start the residency because MIT will need to sign paperwork saying I'm doing my residency there. For now I guess I will just wait. It'll be tight for a few years but I'll only be making more money in the future.

Never thought I'd say this but glad to be back in KS

After my awful trip up to NE in the blizzard, I get back to Manhattan yesterday to find that the maybe got 1-2 inches of snow earlier in the week. Now there is none. Man oh man! I don't need the snow, I grew up in Upstate NY. Seen enough!

I slept a long time today. I fell asleep last night watching Best Week Ever, I must have really been tired, I love that show! Woke up about 2am and had to turn off the TV. Cleo woke me at 7:30a to eat and then I started watching 'Man on Fire.' Eventually fell asleep again and woke at about 1:30p. I guess that NE trip wore me out. Did some errands: Target, grocery, the vet school, the bank, get gas for Nina's car, etc. I'm selling all my textbooks because I have no money and at this point can't get any more loan money. I've been told that I've maxed out on my federal and private loan limit. Good thing I only have a couple months left and it's not 2nd or 3rd year of vet school, I'd be kinda screwed. So I'm trying to get extra money to help me make it until I start my residency in July. Once I get this next rotation over in 3 weeks, that'll be my last at KSU and then I only have one week at Oregon State, I'm going to have a yard sale and sell a lot of my stuff: kitchen stuff, furniture, clothes, etc. so hopefully that'll get me some money. I'm also going to post my Vespa on Ebay and see if I can sell that too so I don't have to worry about transporting it to Boston. I can always buy another if I want. Then I'll just need like an SUV or so to move my stuff since I won't have any big furniture or a bed, just 2 bikes, clothes and stuff like that. Whatever doesn't fit will just stay behind. If I can't sell the Vespa then I'll just need a bigger vehicle to transport my stuff. We'll see.

Need to spend some time cleaning my apartment tonite and tomorrow so I won't have to worry about it while on internal medicine in case I'm busy.

Stupid basketball! I stayed up for this!!!

Both my picks lost in the final seconds. West Virginia tied it up with 5 seconds left but Texas had to hit a 3 in the last second. Bitches!

Then Gonzaga was ahead of UCLA all game and then in the last 15 seconds lose it w/ a couple turnovers. Bitches!! Amazing!

The best game I watched tonite was SU beating KU for the 2003 championship. I have it on DVD and decided to watch it tonite.

I'm so tired now gotta go to bed.

I forgot to mention that today I did get to pull a lamb, my first one. Actually I had help. They told me to grab some gloves and of course they're too big and then they're latex so they slip when you try to grab slimy lamb in placenta. Not easy. The manly men had to help me out and once they got the legs pulled out I could do the rest. See we do need more manly men!

I feel like I'm just wasting my time being in the way

It just sucks that lambing is so slow. No one even came to pick me up this morning. I was ready to by 7:25 instead of 7am today since they didn't pick me up until after 7:30 yesterday. It was about 8am and still no one came to get me so the tech that was in my building called over to the sheep people to see where she could bring me. So when I got there nothing was really going on and then it was break time already. These people love to take breaks. They come in maybe around 6:30 or 7 in the morning and then take a break around 9 and then lunch at noon and another break at 2. They all meet back in the lambing barn and play cards and talk. It's too much breaking for me. Waste of my time. So I did nothing before the first break and then we weighed lambs and I felt like a lot of the time I was in the way. I'm working with these 3 manly men dudes that probably think women are wussies and weak and then I don't know how they normally do things and I didn't grow up w/ sheep or anything so I feel like a retard but I'm here to do something so I try to help but mostly I'm probably in the way and they just wish I would go away. After that we sat around until lunchtime. Then we went to dock tails and we had to lift up each lamb and hold them while they got their tails docked and some of the lambs were so heavy and we did hundreds of them so my arm will be sore for sure tomorrow, especially since it's already sore from shoveling snow on Monday. Then we had another break and then they dropped me off at necropsy to do the dead ones for today. This time I did them with a different guy, not the vet, but at least he systematically showed me how he likes to do things and explained what to look for and what things meant, which was way more than the vets did for me. I felt so stupid though because I've had my necropsy rotation but it was my first one back last May and I don't remember exactly how to do everything so this guy must have thought I was retarded but he was nice and helped me. The other days I just followed how the vet did it though it wasn't like I learned, because that's how he was doing it and he was fast and I thought I had to be that fast and do it the same. What do I know? I'm still just new at all this and not comfortable just doing my own thing. I guess I better start getting used to doing things how I want but I'm more the type to follow others. And when you don't do things for a long time it seems ackward to try and get the rhythm back. I'm just sick of feeling stupid. I hope someday I won't feel like that but really I can't ever imagine that happening. I'll always be the stupid girl who doesn't have common sense and doesn't know what she should.

Man did my day take a quick turn

The morning started out pretty slow. No new lambs so I was just feeding some of the ones born yesterday and trying to get them to learn how to take the nipples in their crates on their own so they don't need to be bottle-fed anymore. Then I went over to the lambing barn but no one was lambing. They told me this was the end of their lambing and I probably didn't come at a good time but that's how my school has it scheduled so I guess they should think about changing the dates. Didn't do much at the lambing barn except pull a dead lamb.

Then it was lunch and I brought my own this time so no ham or pickled eggs. After lunch I stayed w/ the lambs in the nursery showing them the nipples trying to get them to figure it out. Then someone came to get me to take me to necropsy. I thought that meant we were doing necropsies but I walked in and there was a sheep strapped to the table and 2 vets were prepping her for a caesarean section. I've never done one before and someone I was the one doing it. I felt like a retard. It sucked. Somehow I got it done but the 3 lambs we pulled were all dead, though we knew this before the surgery, and it was a pretty contaminated surgery so I don't feel confident the ewe will survive. She was alive when they took her out of necropsy so I hope not to see her again in necropsy. That'll mean she's dead. I normally wear a glove size of 6.5 or 7 but to suture the body wall and skin I was wearing 8.5s. They were so huge and getting in my way and making me look retarded suturing. That's how my day turned. I had no idea I was walking into a c-section. Now I want another one to try and do better.

Now I'm done just watching TV and eating junk, washing clothes. I got an email back from my air date guy but I finally saw a picture of him and I was reminded of what 44 years old looks like and I think I'm going to change my mind and not meet. I now it's harmless and something just to do but I think I will chicken out.

Today I did get to go to the lambing barns

They came to pick me up at about 10am. I guess they called the other room and my classmate came down and told me they were coming so I went out and met the guy. Today wasn't so bad. I just bottle-fed a bunch of newly-born lambs, very cute and took a tour of the lambing barn. Things are kinda hectic w/ all the snow, not everyone's around and lots of time was spent moving snow. The day usually runs 7-3ish and then I go w/ the vets and do any necropsies. We did so many lambs today and I was thinking, this is going to take forever, but they cut them open so fast and find what they're looking for right away, I just followed along, cutting them open and trying to figure out how they died. I always feel stupid doing stuff for the first time but it went okay. Then we went and picked up the calving students. They're pissed because they have to be up all night working and then sleep for a little bit and then go out all afternoon. Their schedule is way harder than mine. Sorry dudes, I signed up for lambing, I can't help it if my schedule is so laid back.

A bunch of older guys work there and they were all giving me crap for being from NY and liking the Yankees and when I tried to explain that NYC people think I'm rural they started to give me a little more credit until they asked what my high school class was and I said 700. They didn't like that :0) The one guy thought I was like 24 and when I told him I was 31 he was all confused. I guess I should just start telling people I'm 24.

I didn't bring a lunch w/ me because I forgot to grab it, though it was just a jar of peanut butter and some soda. So one of the guys there said I could have some of his lunch meat. I had a ham sandwich w/ mustard. I don't think I've ever had one before because it's gross but I couldn't say no. The worst part though was the pickled hard-boiled egg I had to eat. I couldn't finish the whole thing though so I snuck the uneaten part in the trash. The whole time I just kept thinking about Fear Factor and how I would so lose if I couldn't even eat a pickled egg w/ some soda to wash it down with.

I got the car pulled out of the snow today. Yeah! I drove to the convenience store and bought a ton of junk: frozen pizza, cookies, candy, ice cream, chips, etc. Yum!

Have you tried this on-air dating thing?

Where you meet people on airplanes and stuff. Somehow I came across this site awhile back, AirTroductions, I figured why not try it out. The chance of being on a flight w/ someone good would be low but it didn't hurt to sign-up. Well that was awhile ago and today I got my first message from someone. He's going to be in Portland around the same time as me but I'm not sure we'd be able to meet. He's 44 but supposedly very athletic, grew up in Europe but has kids it says. I know nothing much about him but hey if we could meet up I'd be willing, so that's what I emailed him. I'll keep ya updated.

I did the online dating thing for quite awhile. Didn't go out on many dates w/ people, though I got tons and tons of emails, most of them I wasn't interested in, but I did date someone for about 9 months, though he was an absolute tool and I never should have dated him and I met this other guy that I still talk to and turned out to be a weirdo in a Heather-Martin-likes-that-kinda-weirdo way. I can't do it in Kansas because most of the guys are from Fort Riley and I'm trying to stay away from military guys.

Well now what do I do?

I set my alarm for 7am. Not sure what was going to happen today. I was woken earlier than that because they were plowing the parking area. Good deal. Well at 7am I just kinda waited to get word, then fell back to sleep and got up for good at 8:30. Went downstairs, no one was there. Left a note that I was in room 3 w/ the note the other students left saying they were in room 5. Knocked on my classmates' door but no one answered. Not sure if they went out calving or what. Anyway I'm just sitting here in the room I guess until someone comes to get me.

The prez is on TV giving a special report speech. It's awful. How can he be in charge of the USA? You know how sometimes you're put on the spot and you have to kinda act like you know what you're talking about, to keep someone's confidence, at least in my field I can always look it up right after to make sure I know what I'm saying, well President Bush sucks at it. He could never ever keep my confidence. He comes across like he has no clue. Like he's repeating everything he's heard from his advisors and the only thing he comes up w/ on his own are the little jokes he throws in or makes w/ the reporters. Hey maybe that's not the case, but then it's even worse if he does know what he's talking about and it comes across the opposite. How many more years?

Want an update on my snow storm??

After getting settled down here, I ate some food, I have a bunch of chinese from last night. Good thing I brought it, it's at least a few meals and I didn't bring much food. At this point doesn't look like I'll be getting any around here.

I watched 'American Flyers', unfortunately you have to click on the movie title in the left sidebar!!, great movie (cheesy but who cares, cheese is good)! (I linked this site for all the little facts.)

A plow came around and was plowing around my stuck car. After the movie I went out there w/ a shovel to try and make some progress but I realized walking to the car that there really wasn't anywhere to move it to because the rest of the lot wasn't plowed and lots of snow. While I was out there this truck came up and I explained what happened and why I was there. He said tomorrow they could help get my car unstuck. He was in charge of the calf operation and said he wouldn't be starting tomorrow until things were cleaned up and stuff so he wasn't sure what time I'd be starting but probably not until 7 or 8.

Then I came inside to work on my paper that is due for my food animal rotation which I'm still on but doing this lambing elective. So I just need to make corrections and email it to all the professors. I set a time limit of the 'The Fray' CD to work on it but I always get caught up in the song 'How to Save a Life' and just put it on repeat over and over. They played it on Grey's Anatomy last night, yeah! Anyway I got my paper edited and emailed to RobReed for his opinion.

While I was working on the paper the security guard here came by to make sure I had food because I wouldn't be getting anywhere tonite. He saw I had food on the table though and felt better but said he had some TV dinners if I needed. He also said they could get my car out tomorrow. At least people are being nice. He also said I must be a good driver to have made it all the way here.

You know you're a disgusting pig when...

you drive 6 hrs. in an awful blizzard where you can't see, get stuck once on the way so decide to pee on the side of the road before getting yourself unstuck, turn around in the middle of a 2 lane country highway because you think you're going the wrong direction on the road after a car comes at you, not in your lane, but it's on a curve and for some reason since you can't see the lines on the road or anything and all the signs are facing away from you you think you've missed your part of the road, then realize you were going the right way so then have to wait until a good time to turn around which is never because there's too much snow on the road and you only have a little car but you have to turn around so you successfully do so and then when you finally get to where you're going, middle of nowhere, nebraska, you get stuck 100 feet from the door on the curb because you can't see the road, and then have to drag all your stuff for the week in several trips to the door in the blizzard blowing your clothes on the ground, soaking you w/ snow, etc., then try to shovel the car out with no success, after all that, you go find the candy stash in the frig. downstairs outside necropsy and buy some 50 cent candy bars.

So everyone, I made it to GPVEC for lambing in the worst driving conditions all winter, though oh, isn't it spring now and no one is here, besides my not-so-helpful classmates that came up last night for calving. I couldn't come up because Nina got home very late, she called around 2am. I made the trek this morning though I shouldn't have but once I got started there was no stopping because there was no where to stop and the snow was so deep I'd get stuck. The one time I did stop, I had to pee so bad, I got stuck on the side of the road and then I said what the hell, I'm gonna pee anyway, and then somehow got unstuck and pulled onto the road right in front of a plow. Damn, why couldn't he have come a little sooner and been ahead of me.? Then when I was a few miles away from my destination, I called my classmate who was already here to ask if it was plowed or not because I wasn't sure if I'd make it into the parking area. He said no one was around and they didn't do anything today because no one was around so he didn't think anything was plowed. Well I had no choice, I had to try and get into the parking lot. I made it into the traffic circle before the parking lot when the car wouldn't go anymore. The snow was too deep and upon shoveling some of it out, I was also on some grass, so I must have went up the curb or something. Guess I'm just hanging out here until hopefully tomorrow someone shows up and tells us what we're doing and helps me get Nina's car unstuck.

Today is a yucky, rainy day and I'm just being lazy

I guess my laziness kinda started early in the week. I was due for my period and putting off running because I felt yucky. I did 4.5 miles one day and then 7 miles another. That day I actually had a good pace going and I was gonna try to run even farther but I had bad period cramps and didn't want to poop my pants so I came home. I needed to run 9.5 miles yesterday to meet my minimum of 20 miles/week. My goal was to do it for 12 weeks straight and I was doing really well, most weeks running over 30 miles. I was on call yesterday and got called in around 11am to go out on a field call for a down cow. Didn't get back from that until about 3pm and then I was told there was a bull coming in with a penis trauma so I had about an hour to go home. So I went and got something to eat, was hoping the bull didn't come until after 5pm because at 5pm I was off duty, but he came about 4:30pm. Had to check the bull in, soak his penis and bed him down for the rest of the weekend. Didn't get home from that until about 7:30pm. Forgot I still needed to run and ate something so I didn't run and fucked up my 20+ miles/week for 12 wks. straight. Only got in 10 weeks. Today I'm supposed to run 20 miles but I had to go in this morning to soak the bull penis and it's been raining all day. Had to ride my scooter there and back in the rain, yuck! Doesn't make me want to run 3+ hours outside and I don't want to ride in the rain to the rec and run 20 miles on a 200m track inside either, so I'm just being lazy. I'm going up to Nebraska for lambing this coming week. Started packing for that and finishing my laundry. My professor told me to go up today because it's going to snow but I'm using Nina's car and she's coming back from Dallas tonite so I probably won't leave until morning. Hopefully the weather isn't too bad in the morning.

Just gonna hang out here in bed watching bball until I get too bored.

Thanks for the 4 years, G Money!

Sorry you had to go out like that. Bullshit! That team is nothing without you.

Work so hard to win that Big East Tourney and nothing was left for tonite. Never in 130+ games did G Money score zero points, until tonite.

2 years in a row you guys ruin my tournament. I'll take that though since you did win the title!! It really sucks and ruins my March but like I said if you never make the tourney again that's okay, you've won it all. G Money deserves that!

C'mon SU, don't fail me now!

I can't get into this March Madness. They keep switching games on me and it's so hard to follow or care about anything. I don't even get to watch SU play.

I'm running out of money very fast! I applied for another loan to get me through the rest of the semester but I was denied. Not sure why, they're sending me notification in the mail. Hopefully I can do it w/ a co-signer and my dad will comply. Otherwise I'm selling a bunch of books, hopefully people are interested, and eventually in May I'm having a moving sale and selling lots of clothes and most of the 'furniture' I've aquired for this apartment. I don't want to move to Boston w/ a bunch of crap, just 100s of pounds of free dog food I've stockpiled.

Tomorrow finishes up my last day of food animal ever at K-State, assuming they pass me :0) Next week I go back up to Nebraska for lambing. Lambs are awesome! I hope it's a lot of fun. After tomorrow I'll only have 3 more weeks of stuff at K-State. Otherwise I have one week in Nebraska and one week at Oregon State. Not much longer now.

We got another mad cow everybody!

Maybe if we stopped eating them they wouldn't get so mad. (Just kidding)

I don't want to upset the beef producer. My favorite meat to eat is the ground beef: cheeseburgers, meatballs, meatloaf, Yummy!

I just spent about an hour making a post

and I fucking lost it! It told all about how I'm in Minneapolis right now for symposium, how I went to the Mall of America, how I had a tarot card reading last night at our symposium carnival thing, how I went running outside here this morning, what I did this afternoon and started to talk about the SU fortune. I'm using these tiny little Compaq's that they set up at symposium for email and stuff and it crashed on me. Bitches! Now I'm too hungry and have a headache so I don't feel like redoing my post. Too bad for you guys. Symposium is at the Hilton and that's where we're staying and the assholes charge for internet access so I don't want to pay for it and haven't had good access to email, posting and getting info to do my paper that's due Tuesday. Oh well! See ya later bitches :0)

Happy Birthday Ella Rae!!

My niece turned 1 today (Monday the 6th). I had a busy day today so I could only call to say Happy Birthday in between school stuff. They were just finishing eating dinner, spaghetti, Ella likes it, and then they were having cake. I got to sing Happy Birthday with them over the phone.

I'm on emergency backup tonite for food animal and I've been called in twice already. I just got back from pulling a calf. Luckily we delivered a healthy heifer calf and sent mom and baby home all in about an hour. It was soooo exciting! You have to love a happy ending with an adorable calf. Awesome! I got called in for this at 10:30pm but I was also called at 6:20p but the pager system apparently wasn't working because I didn't get the page and neither did the primary person. I was at school though in a lecture by Temple Grandin. She's giving lectures all this week from 6-9pm so I'm going to try and go to some of them. I can't go Thurs. or Fri. because I'll be in Minnesota for Symposium and I have stuff to do this week to tie things up and get ready to go so I don't know how much I can attend. But anyway I was in the lecture and after the first lecture we took a break and I decided to check my cell phone to see if I had any messages and that's when I saw the school called 50 min. ago because a sheep was coming in. By the time I got over there they were done. The ewe had triplets! Another cool thing and I missed it. I showed up just in time to help clean up. Funny thing was another student just happened to be there discharging another ewe and lamb when the next came in and since I didn't and the primary person didn't get the pages no one else was there to help the doctor so he did.

Wonder if I'll get called in again? Gotta get some sleep.
